MEDICARE REBATES
All Australian citizens are eligible to receive up to 10 subsidized psychology sessions per year under the government's Medicare Better Access Scheme.
The current rebate for a 50+ minute session with Joanna is $141.85.

In order to receive a rebate, you must visit your GP or psychiatrist to get a mental health care plan and referral letter for psychologist services. The letter can be addressed generally to a "psychologist" and can be used with any registered psychologist in Australia.

Please note that bulk billing is not available at this practice.

PRIVATE HEALTH
Check your private health insurance policy to find out if you are eligible for rebated psychology sessions. Private health providers may offer from $300 to $750 in rebates for psychology sessions in a year, depending on the provider and the product chosen.

Please note, Medicare rules dictate that you can only claim a Medicare rebate OR a private health rebate for a given psychology session. Claiming both for the same session is defined as fraud and attracts a criminal penalty.

If you wish to claim a rebate through your private health insurance, simply let me know and I will put a private health item number on the invoice you wish to claim.
